If you stayed at the Ritz Carlton Residence Club in Bachelor Gulch over the weekend, you were there for Vail Mountain Closing Day, when Vail's World Pond Skimming Championships were held at the Golden Peak ski area. This year's Pond Skimming Championships drew in the biggest crowd in the event's eight year history. There was free BBQ and turkey legs as thousands watched costumed skiers and snowboarders attempt to clear a 100-foot, ice cold pond.
