Things To Do In San Francisco: San Francisco Attractions and Activities

The Sea Lions at San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39 are a popular tourist attraction.     Children's Fairyland is a park for children in San Francisco, California.

The Ritz Carlton Residence Club in San Francisco has a great central location in Union Square that puts you right in the middle of the action. Here are some  great San Francisco Attractions and Activities to check out while you're at your San Francisco luxury condo!

1. Go to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. This classic San Francisco attraction is your typical tourist spot for good reason. There are great views of San Francisco Bay,  the Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz, and quite a few fun things to do:

          > See the Sea Lions, or the "Sea Lebrities," as locals call them. Each winter about 900 (mostly male) sea lions come and hang out at Pier 39. They migrate during summer for breeding season, but lately a small group has been staying all year round.

          > Go to the Farmer's Market on the weekend. Outside, there are vendors selling handmade jewelry, artwork and more. Inside, there is a long hallway filled with different kinds of food and a few sit-down restaurants.

          > Aquarium of the Bay is great for little kids and is not too long. There is a really great aquarium that has a tunnel through it, so you can walk through and see the fish swimming above your head.

          > Adventure Cat Sailing Charters will take you sailing around San Francisco Bay. Enjoy the sunset from a sailboat, take in the San Francisco skyline, and even go under the Golden Gate Bridge.

          > Blazing Saddles Bike Rentals and Tours will rent you a bike to ride over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito, a little town just over the bridge. There are shops, restaurants on the water, and wine tasting.

2. Go to Alcatraz, an old prison just off Fisherman's Wharf, that has become a very popular tourist destination.

3. San Francisco's Chinatown is the largest outside of Asia and the oldest in North America. It is one of San Francisco's biggest tourist attractions. There are lots of little stores where you can buy souvenirs and plenty of Asian restaurants as well.

4. Lombard Street, the most crooked street in San Francisco (which is actually not the most crooked or steep, just the most famous).

5. Visit the Golden Gate Park, one of the world's largest man made parks. The California Academy of Siences, the tranquil Japanese Tea Gardes, and the oldest glass and wood Victorian greenhouse in the western hemisphere can be found at the Golden Gate Park. There are a few cafes and restaurants as well, including the Beach Chalet on the west end that has a great ocean view, delicious food and micro brewed beer.

6. Union Square, where the Ritz Carton Residence Club San Francisco is located, has amazing shopping and an energetic atmosphere. There is a great selection of restaurants as well, read our reviews of Union Square restaurants.

7. The University of California Botanical Gardens at Strawberry Canyon, above the Berkeley campus, overlooks the San Francisco Bay. The Botanical Garden is home to one of the most diverse plant collections in the United States, inlcluding 13,000 species and over 21,000 plants from regions around the world, arranged by region.

8. The Children's Fairyland is a historic, 10 acre park where children's literature is brought to life through faity tale exhibits, animals, and talking storybooks that children activate by turning a "Magic Key."

9. Gray Line San Francisoc Sightseeing Tours will take you on guided tours of the city in a trolley.

10. Take a ride on the cable cars, San Francisco's unique form of transportation.
