Buttermilk Mountain

Buttermilk Mountain, home to the ESPN Winter X Games, is actually one of the best learning mountains in the country. It's perfectly groomed, gentle slopes and excellent ski and snowboard school make it perfect for families and beginners. However, Buttermilk Mountain does have something for the experts. The legendary Crazy Train Terrain Park, tellingly named after an Ozzy Osbourne song, boasts a 22-foot superpipe. If you're not at that level quite yet, head over to the Panda Pipe, or the ski/snowboard school's park, S3 Park.

Buttermilk Mountain Investments
The Aspen Ski Company has invested over $138 million in repairs and improvements on Buttermilk Mountain, and the sister mountains in the Aspen/Snowmass conglomerate, in an effort to provide the most seamless ski experience possible. This includes 11 new lifts, 2 of which are gondolas, the Treehouse Kids' Adventure Center, three new restaurants, additional terrain, the new Snowmass base village, hands-free gate access, and a tunnel on Buttermilk Mountain to alleviate skier traffic.

The Cliffhouse, a cafeteria style restaurant, is located at the top of Buttermilk Moutain, and has incredible views of Pyramid Peak and Maroon Valley. They feature a "make your own" Mongolian grill that is very popular, offering vegetables, beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, tofu and delicious sauces.
