Every summer, Vail hosts an array of events, ranging from food festivals to art shows, which draws visitors from around the globe. We are happy to announce that sports enthusiasts can rejoice as the Vail Whitewater Race Series is here! Starting from May 8th – until June 5th, spectators can view competitors race a 1-mile stretch which starts at Vail’s International Bridge and runs down Gore Creek. The competitions will be held every week (on Tuesday) for a month, beginning on May 8th. The races will be divided into three categories: kayak, two-person raft and stand-up paddleboard. Each week the races will differ and will be determined the day before based on river flows. Those interested can register on the Vail Recreation District website. Race day registration begins at 4:30 pm and the races will commence at 5:30 pm. Everyone 16 and up (with intermediate kayak and rafting experience) are invited to participate in the races.
